AN ELDERLY woman has died following a crash on the A303.
The crash involved two vehicles and happened on the westbound carriageway of the A303, close to Chicklade, at around 11.10am yesterday.
It involved a white Volvo and a motorhome.
The driver of the motorhome, a woman in her 80s from the Taunton area, died at the scene.
A dog which was inside the motorhome also died.
The driver of the Volvo suffered minor injuries.
The road was closed in both directions for around five hours to allow collision investigation work to take place and for the scene to be cleared.
Police are appealing for anyone who saw either vehicle beforehand, or who witnessed the collision.
