GODOLPHIN School is holding its third Literary Festival in the city next month.

It takes place between October 11 and 17, and runs alongside Salisbury Literary Festival (October 18 to 20).

Davina Jones, librarian at Godolphin School, said: “This is Godolphin’s third Literary Festival and we are particularly excited this year to have coordinated with the Salisbury Literary Festival, which means together we are bringing over a week of diverse writers to the city.

“We put a huge emphasis on reading for pleasure at Godolphin and this is what the festival is all about. We hope hearing authors speak will inspire pupils coming to our events to try some of their books and fall in love with the habit of reading.”

"The day time events will see the school theatre full of pupils from all over Salisbury which makes for a great buzz in the school. We also hold a poetry evening and a creative writing workshop for pupils during the week which adds to the variety of literary events. The evening talks are ticketed and open to the public of all ages and there is a great atmosphere seeing young and old enjoying the same authors," added Davina

Events open to the public include:

Lucy Worlsey, the bestselling author, historian and chief curator of the Historic Royal Palaces as well as BBC presenter, is giving a talk on Friday, October 11, 7.30pm.

Writer, journalist and broadcaster Lynne Truss is at the festival on Monday, October 14, 7pm. Her book Eats, Shoots & Leaves was an international bestseller.

She writes extensively for radio and is the author of seven novels as well as a non-fiction account of her time as a novice sports journalist on The Times: Get Her Off the Pitch.

Joa Studholme is on Thursday, October 17, 7pm. For decades she has been giving her full attention to Farrow & Ball’s customers’ every need, suggesting Elephant’s Breath or Sulking Room Pink for pantries and boudoirs across the world.
