THE community came out in force to celebrate Ringwood School’s 60th birthday.
More than 3,000 people came along to a family fun day on Sunday, September 15 to mark the milestone.
Entertainment included fun fair rides, ferret racing, and classic cars. The main arena played host to a dog show, a dance performance by Shake, birds of prey demonstrations and a motorcycle display team.
There were also old photographs and displays giving the history of the school.
Head teacher Leanne Symonds said: “It is a privilege to be headteacher of Ringwood School at this moment in time as the school enters its 60th year. The school has changed so much over the years, now welcoming an additional 1,000 students to school each day compared with the school of 600 in the early days.
“It has been particularly special to hear so many memories from so many ex-students and ex staff. What is wonderful is the happiness that seems to inhabit everyone’s Ringwood School memories. Sunday was a real highlight for us and it really symbolised the whole community coming together.”
