GODOLPHIN School's third Literary Festival gets underway today with a line-up including historian Lucy Worsley.

It runs until Thursday, October 17, and runs alongside Salisbury Literary Festival (October 18 to 20).

Davina Jones, librarian at Godolphin School, said: “This is Godolphin’s third Literary Festival and we are particularly excited this year to have coordinated with the Salisbury Literary Festival, which means together we are bringing over a week of diverse writers to the city.

“We put a huge emphasis on reading for pleasure at Godolphin and this is what the festival is all about. We hope hearing authors speak will inspire pupils coming to our events to try some of their books and fall in love with the habit of reading.”

"The day time events will see the school theatre full of pupils from all over Salisbury which makes for a great buzz in the school. We also hold a poetry evening and a creative writing workshop for pupils during the week which adds to the variety of literary events. The evening talks are ticketed and open to the public of all ages and there is a great atmosphere seeing young and old enjoying the same authors," added Davina

Events open to the public include:

Lucy Worsley, the bestselling author, historian and chief curator of the Historic Royal Palaces as well as BBC presenter, is giving a talk on Friday, October 11, 7.30pm.
