A PUMPKIN patch has opened in time for Halloween, after damages to a mannequin, Portaloo and pumpkins.

Fordingbridge Pumpkin Pastures opened at the beginning of the month but was subject to vandalism days after it opened, including the smashing of pumpkins and damages to a figure dressed as a witch.

But the pick-your-own site, just off the A338 Ringwood Road, has installed a new CCTV system as a result.

Fordingbridge Pumpkin Pastures is run by Dan Burden and his wife Sam.

Following the incident Sam said: "We believe it was just kids who came and broke our witch, pushed toilets and made a mess. It was a bit of a pain.

"But everything is back to normal now and it has been really lovely."

A second witch figure will soon be added to the pumpkin picking festivities.

Sam added: "We’ve had a really successful start to the season and our pumpkins and crafts are prepped and ready for half term week."

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "We received a report about damage caused at the site of a pick-your-own pumpkin event. Damage was caused to a mannequin, a Portaloo and some pumpkins."

Anyone with information about the incident can contact Hampshire police on 101, quoting crime reference number 44190368776.

The site will be open every day from tomorrow until October 31, between 9.30am and 4pm, for more information visit the Fordingbridge Pumpkin Pastures website.
