PUMPKINS, youngsters, parents and even a dinosaur celebrated the Spooktacular time of the year.

Children and their families flocked to the Longparish Pumpkin Show, at the village hall, on Saturday for the 23rd year.

Throughout the day the pupils from Longparish Little School, which organises the event, and youngsters from the village competed to win the title of the best decorated pumpkin, best carved and the heaviest.

Many also came dressed up in their best costumes to win the fancy dress category.

Dexter won the carved pumpkin competition with his dinosaur pumpkin, and Cassidy-Rose won the decorated pumpkin competition with her gold sparkly design.

Speaking about the day, pre-school manager Claire Nash said: “It went really well, we had a lot of people come up and a lot of nicely decorated pumpkins.”

The event raised £300 for the school’s outdoor activities.

“We have a forest school two times a week and we do a lot of extra activities and this will help us with those activities we do with the children,” Claire added.

Over the previous weeks the youngsters at the pre-school have been learning about pumpkins, and last week were given a large pumpkin which was carved into a pirate ship.
