SALISBURY'S Superdrug pharmacy has looked to refute details of a court case following a break-in last week.

In the piece published by the Journal it stated that Saleem Ayoub, of Cherry Orchard Lane, Salisbury, had broken into the Old George Mall store and downed a bottle methadone, among other drugs, in the early hours of last Friday.

Details revealed during a hearing at Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 26 revealed that the medication had been left out to be collected by customers.

However, a spokesperson for the company has refuted this claim, instead confirming that methadone is "always stored securely in a locked cabinet overnight", which is in contrast to what was confirmed in court.

It has instead been suggested by the pharmacy that Ayoub had brought the bottle of medication into the store from elsewhere before taking it on the premises.

The spokesperson added: "Superdrug has reviewed a photograph of the bottle of methadone and have confirmed that is not a brand that they stock."
