A MAJOR road has been closed due to a gas leak.
The A36 is closed in both directions between Salisbury Road, Ower and Crawley Hill, West Wellow.
Residents in Blackhill have reported that a police cordon has been in place since 8am.
SGN was called to the scene this morning, and a spokesperson for the company said the A36 is unlikely to be open again today, as technicians attempt to stem the gas flow.
This is a complex repair and we've now needed to close the #A36 Salisbury Road to allow our engineers to safely carry out this work. Diversions are in place for all motorists and we advise allowing extra time for your journeys. More info: https://t.co/1RVmfDd193 pic.twitter.com/SdMuugN993
