POLICE are looking for a New Forest man who is wanted in connection with the attempted murder of a man in Lymington.

Hampshire Constabulary wants to speak to Martin Williamson, from Brockenhurst, following a serious assault earlier this week which left a man fighting for his life in hospital.

The 45-year-old is believed to be in the New Forest area. 

Officers were called to Lower Buckland Road, Lymington, shortly after 3.30am on Thursday (October 31) after a man was found with serious injuries.

The 30-year-old, from Milford-on-Sea, was taken to hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

A statement for the police said: "Since Thursday we have been carrying out extensive enquiries to establish exactly what happened and have made one arrest.

"We want to speak to Martin in relation to this investigation and are hoping you can help us find him."

He is described as being white, around 6ft tall, with short brown hair and brown eyes. He has a dragon tattoo on his right arm and chest and a tattoo of a flower on his left arm.

Detective Inspector Steve Spencer said: “We’ve been carrying out several enquiries and believe Martin is still in the New Forest area, so please keep an eye out for him.

“We’ve got extra officers on patrol in the area, so if you have any concerns, please go and talk to them.”

Police have arrested a 42-year-old man, from Lymington, on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been bailed until November 29.
