CHRISTMAS lights are now illuminating Salisbury, following this year's lights switch-on.
Despite the rain hundreds of people flocked to the Market Square earlier tonight, to watch seasonal celebrity Father Christmas, mayor of Salisbury John Walsh and local hero Molly Fisher, of charity Encircles, turn on the Christmas lights, using a massive switch onstage.
In the lead up to the big moment, a series of performers entertained the audience of all ages, including songs and dance routines by Starcast, fun and games with Disco Dion, and a special Michael Bublé-inspired set by New Forest musician, Liam White.
The Grinch even made an appearance, greeted with a loud "Boo" from the crowd.
Following a brief speech from the mayor and a blessing from Salisbury Cathedral Dean Nicholas Papadopulos, the countdown began.
The lights are now illuminating trees and streets all across the city, including the Christmas tree next to the Guildhall!
To end the festivities a firework display shone across the sky, followed by seasonal hits from The Zoots.
