SALISBURY FC are through to the first round of the FA Trophy after a seven-goal thriller at the Ray Mac.

Despite being 2-0 up at half time, it took a 94th minute winner from Warren Bentley to seal a 4-3 victory for the hosts in an extraordinary afternoon in Old Sarum.

The Whites got off to an excellent start, with Darren Mullings scoring after just 12 minutes, with a good finish low into the corner after finding himself unmarked in the box.

The second goal came just five minutes later.

Huge credit must go to Hippolyte-Patrick for his superb assist. Running at the defence, Hippolyte-Patrick took his time to assess his options before completely splitting the defence with a pass in behind for Bay Downing, who calmly chipped it over the onrushing keeper.

Salisbury had a plethora of chances to make it three before the break - Oseni hit the post, and Holmes found himself behind the keeper who had charged off his line, only for a defender to clear before he could convert.

Half time saw Wannell then replaced by Lafleur, and what seemed to be a change of approach from the Whites, sitting back and looking to protect the lead rather than attack in the manner they had in the first half.

The hour mark came and went, and it all seemed fairly routine up to this point, but as ever, nothing is routine with the Whites.

Hayes and Yeading scored three goals in 10 crazy minutes to drag themselves into the lead, almost out of nowhere.

First, in the 68th minute – a cross sent in from the right, across the face of goal, was met by an unmarked Obi, who made just enough contact to send the ball dribbling back across goal and into the corner of the net.

Five minutes later and Buchanan got his first of two for the evening, with a brilliant equaliser, a semi-acrobatic volley from the edge of the area into the corner of the net.

The 78th minute and the comeback was complete, Buchanan scoring again from an almost impossible angle on the right hand side.

The chaos did not end there. Substitute Lafleur levelled for Salisbury with seconds left of regular time, with a left-footed volley into the bottom corner from outside the box after the United keeper punched away a cross.

3-3. Five minutes of added time indicated by the fourth official.

With about 40 seconds left, Warren Bentley grabbed the winner for the Whites, and the Ray Mac erupted.

The draw for the next round of the FA Trophy is on Monday, at around 12.45pm, and it will be live on Talksport 2.
