A SALISBURY man is attempting to raise £20,000 by completing 20 marathons by the end of 2020.

Carl Orme is raising the money for Breast Cancer Now, a charity he says "has touched so many lives", and affected his mum and nan.

Carl said: "I nearly lost my mum to this awful killer twice and while she has survived, she has had no end of health problems as a result of the chemotherapy and is disabled too.

"Breast cancer is unfortunately still taking far too many lives and I wanted to try and make a difference to join the Breast Cancer aspiration of eradicating lives lost and increasing early diagnosis."

"I have now committed to undertaking a series of challenges to raise an ambitious £20,000."

His mum is currently undergoing treatment for skin cancer, which has spurred Carl on even more to take on these fundraising efforts.

To raise the money, Carl is running a mixture of ultra-marathons, marathons and half marathons, and by the end of 2020 will have run the equivalent distance of 20 marathons.

He will also be doing raffles, virtual races, and other events to raise awareness, and on February 28, Salisbury FC are hosting an evening’s entertainment, including a charity auction, at the Ray Mac stadium.

Carl is also still looking for sponsors for this event. Anyone interested in sponsoring the event get in touch with Carl by emailing email BCN2020Challenge@hotmail.com
