FLOOD alerts have been issued for the Salisbury area, with maps showing that the city centre could potentially be affected.
As wind and rain continues to hit the city, live warning maps from the Environment Agency show that areas in and around the city could be affected by groundwater flooding.
The five alerts issued are for where 'flooding is possible' and locals are asked to 'be prepared'.
The other three flood alerts are for:
- River Bourne and tributaries
- River Ebble and tributaries
- Upper Avon and tributaries
- Groundwater flooding in the Cranborne Chase area
Groundwater levels remain high across the Cranborne Chase area. Borehole levels appear to be levelling off or falling slowly, however, there is still the possibility of flooding.
- Groundwater flooding in the Salisbury Plain area
No flood warnings, which are classed as 'flooding is expected - immediate action required' have been issued for the Salisbury area.
On the government website, it says: "It is likely that the rainfall experienced on Tuesday will cause groundwater levels to rise, perhaps into early next week.
"We encourage residents with pumps and other property resilience measures to put them in place and ensure they are working.
"We are continuing to monitor the situation and will update this message as the situation changes."
