SPECIAL ‘royal’ visitors paid a visit to Salisbury’s hospital charity today, describing it as a “beautiful” morning.

Actors Olivia Colman and Josh O’Connor dropped in to see the work of the Stars Appeal, as they take a break from filming the fourth season of The Crown at Wilton House.

Salisbury Journal:

Olivia, who portrays the Queen in the Netflix drama, praised the work of the charity, recounting the ‘feeling of love’ she felt around the many projects she visited on her tour with Josh (Prince Charles).

“I have never really been on a visit to a hospital before, but there was such a beautiful positive atmosphere [at Salisbury]. Properly extraordinary,” she said.

Salisbury Journal:

“There is a lot to be said about the Stars Appeal and the local community raising money for it. There is just a real feeling of love. It is really beautiful – I’ve had a really lovely morning.

“We will come back!”

The pair, led by charity president Lord Pembroke – who owns Wilton House, were given a tour of the neonatal ward, specialist breast cancer unit, children’s unit, and the Pembroke Unit during their visit.

They were also presented with a special Stars Appeal t-shirt.

Salisbury Journal:

Josh added: “We are filming The Crown, series four just up the road at Wilton House, and so we heard about the Stars Appeal and we wanted to stop by.

“We wish we could’ve been here longer.”

A delighted Penny Brown, chairman of the fundraising committee, thanked the pair for their visit, and the joy they brought to many patients and hospital staff.

“We were delighted to welcome Olivia and Josh to the Stars Appeal today to see the work of the charity at Salisbury District Hospital,” she added.

Salisbury Journal:

“The purpose of the Stars Appeal is to enhance the patients' experience for all those who come to the hospital, and meeting Olivia and Josh today did that for so many.

“We would like to thank them for making the effort to come down, and look forward to seeing them again.”
