A WILTSHIRE councillor has resigned following his election as an MP – in a seat more than 140 miles away.

Conservative Darren Henry was councillor for Till and Wylye Valley, but due to his election as Member of Parliament for Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire, he has now resigned from his post.

Wiltshire Council leader, Councillor Philip Whitehead, said: "Given his commitments, this was a sensible decision, and I'd like to thank Darren for all his hard work in Wiltshire over the last few years and wish him all the best for the future."

A by-election will take place in due course seat, and details of that will be confirmed soon.

Queries and information related to Till and Wylye Valley should be directed to Councillor Robert Yuill and Councillor Mike Hewitt.
