SALISBURY'S Topshop and Topman stores are to remain open, despite being earmarked for closure last year.
Parent company Arcadia has confirmed the news for the Old George Mall stores to the Journal, after announcing plans to shut 23 stores in the UK and Ireland in May last year as part of a 'rescue plan'.
A statement from Arcadia said: "Our Topshop Topman Salisbury store remains open and is trading as normal."
As well as Topshop and Topman, Dorothy Perkins and Burton stores across the country are closing down, in a bid to save the overall business in times of changing consumer habits and online competition.
In response to the news for Salisbury however, Robin McGowan, chief executive of Salisbury BID, said: “This is really excellent news for Salisbury and we’d like to remind people of Salisbury the importance of shopping local and keeping spend in our city.”
