**UPDATED: The road has now reopened**
THE A36 between South Newton and Deptford has been closed and a female has been taken to hospital following a car crash.
South Western Ambulance Service was called to the scene at around 4.10pm, to reports of a car coming off the road.
Wiltshire Police and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) are also at the scene, and the road is closed in both directions.
DWFRS was called to the scene around 4.20pm.

A statement from Wiltshire Police said: "We have closed the A36 near Stapleford due to a road traffic collision.
"The road is closed from Wilton to the Deptford Junction.
"Please avoid the area if possible. Police, fire and ambulance are on scene."
The ambulance service added: "The ambulance crew treated a female patient at the scene and transported her to hospital for further care."
