A VETERAN of the Second World War celebrated a special milestone.
Daniel Harrington, who is a resident at Maristow Nursing Home in Salisbury, celebrated his 100th birthday on January 15 with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, friends and staff at the home.
Daniel was born in Cork, Ireland in 1920 and served in the British Army in Burma during the Second World War.
A relative living in Durrington brought him to this area, and Daniel worked at the Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes (NAAFI) at Boscombe Down as a safety equipment officer and worked abroad too.
He ended his working life at MOD in Larkhill.
Daniel married Violet in 1952 and they were married for 64 years until Violet passed away in 2016.
