EXTINCTION Rebellion Salisbury held its first Street Swarm today (February 1) in the city centre.

The Street Swarms will take place on the first Saturday of the month from Guildhall Square from 11am.

Participants cycle slowly around the city centre from 11am to 11.45am and will then be joined by walkers and other ‘swarmers’ from 11.45-midday.

XR-S co-ordinator Graham Smith said: "We’ve been campaigning for years to reduce traffic in Salisbury city centre, make it a safer place to live and more climate friendly. We want the city to be for people not cars. The council has not done enough. We need to see action. now."

Cyclists and walkers taking part in the street swarm took a route from the Guildhall Square down through Winchester Street looping around to New Canal before heading to Blue Boar Row and back to the Guildhall Square.
