A WRESTLER who has travelled the world has now moved to Salisbury, and will be competing in this weekend’s All Star Superslam Wrestling show.

Superslam title holder Joel Pettyfer, otherwise known as Oliver Grey, began his wrestling career at just 15-years-old after being inspired by judo and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

During his career, Joel has already competed in Florida for two years for WWE, and he currently wrestles for All Japan Pro Wrestling, giving him the opportunity to travel to Japan around four times a year.

Career highlights for the 32-year-old include meeting WWE stars like John Cena and The Undertaker, as well as getting to spend his years travelling.

The show, held Saturday night in Salisbury City Hall, will be the first time Joel performs in front of people he knows, after moving to the city with his fiancee.

On the night he will be defending his superslam belt against the Maori Warrior from New Zealand.

“I’m feeling the pressure but I’m really looking forward to it, this is the company’s 50th anniversary which makes it more special,” Joel says.

The wrestler described his job as an “amazing experience”, adding: “I’m really lucky I have got paid to do this and see all these places from this job.

“As a kid I watched WWE so actually getting to be involved with it was great experience. It’s a really big deal for someone who was brought up in a small place like Devon. I do lots of shows every week so it’s quite a busy schedule, but I keep training and working, and one day the goal is to get back into WWE.”

When asked what to expect from the show Joel said it will include “acting, the panto element [and] no violence - it’s going to be a great night out for kids and family”.

Joel is a part-time instructor at Sports Direct Fitness, and he will be launching his own wrestling school on March 21 in My Gym Health and Fitness.
