THE streets of Salisbury were treated to the distinctive sound of bagpipes for a special occasion.

Ben and Kirsty Johnston proudly proclaimed their love for one-another as they travelled from their wedding through the city streets to their reception, accompanied by the tune of the famous Scottish instrument.

Speaking about the day, Kirsty said: “Ben and I met by chance one evening in The Cosy Club in August, 2016. A connection was immediately apparent.

“When Ben proposed, we both wanted to make sure the day was special and memorable and Burns Night seemed the perfect fit, considering my father’s family is from the Highlands and Ben’s Lockerbie.”

She added: “The people of Salisbury need to get a special mention for their spontaneous well wishes on our journey behind the piper between the venues. We were overwhelmed by their kind words and it will be a day we never forget.”
