FIREFIGHTERS extinguished a fire in the first floor of a bedroom in Wilton.
At 2.24pm Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service received the first of several 999 calls to a property fire in Olivier Road.
The fire had spread to an adjoining property.
A spokesperson for DWFRS said: "Firefighters from Wilton and Salisbury were alerted to this incident, which was believed to be a fire on the first floor.
"On arrival firefighters quickly requested further resources and we currently have eight fire engines from Wilton, Salisbury (x2), Shaftesbury, Warminster, along with our Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service colleagues from Romsey, Fordingbridge and an aerial ladder platform from St Mary’s, in attendance at this incident.
"Firefighters have extinguished a fire in the first floor bedroom using breathing apparatus, hose reels and main lines. Firefighting operations continue as the fire has spread to an adjoining property via the loft space.
"A fire investigation officer is on scene and will begin investigating the cause of the fire as soon as it is safe to do so."
