THE city is bracing itself for another weekend of high winds and heavy rain, as Storm Dennis heads towards the UK.
Coming just a week after Storm Ciara, Storm Dennis promises less severe, but still punishing weather.
Both yellow wind and rain warnings have been put in place for Saturday, with the rain warning staying on for Sunday.
Winds of up to 54mph are predicted to hit the city at the start of the weekend, with these dying down to a high of 49mph the following day.
Amber weather warnings for rain have also been issued nearby Stockbridge. This warning stretches to Winchester.
Last weekend, the highest speeds recorded in Salisbury were atop the city's cathedral, with a gust of 92mph hitting its famous spire.
No flooding alerts are yet to be issued.
Steve Ramsdale, chief meteorologist at the Met Office said: “Another spell of very wet and windy weather is expected for Saturday, although Storm Dennis is currently not expected to be as severe as Ciara disruption is still likely.
"Our confidence in the forecast means we have been able to issue severe weather warnings well in advance, giving people time to prepare for potential impacts of the storm.
“With further warnings possible over the next few days people should keep up to date with the Met Office forecast using our website, app or by following us on social media.”
