LIVESTOCK worrying can lead to a fine of up to £1,000, police officers have warned.
After receiving a number of reports in Salisbury and Amesbury, Wiltshire Police is appealing for the public to help protect livestock from dogs, to avoid incidents which can impact both farm animals and farmers.
Livestock worrying includes dogs biting or attacking livestock, dogs chasing livestock and dogs not being on a lead when close to livestock.
The offence can also lead to six months imprisonment.
Wiltshire Police confirmed these acts are a "criminal offence", adding: "It can be traumatic for farmers who have to deal with the aftermath of an incident, not to mention the financial impact it has.
"Help us to protect livestock in Wiltshire by putting your dog on a lead."
