THE WHITES returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win against Hendon.

Jake Wannell and Toby Holmes were on the scoresheet in an instantly-forgettable afternoon at the Ray Mac.

The result will be the most important thing to a Salisbury side who haven't won a league game at home since January 7, and desperately needed a win in their push for the play-offs.

It took twenty-five minutes for the home side to have their first shot on target - which went out for a throw-in, in a first half with little quality.

The first goal did come in the 42nd minute though.

With a free kick in a dangerous position for the Whites, on the left hand side of the box, Benson stood over it.

He whipped the cross in, and looked like it went straight in, but Wannell claimed the goal with got a flick on it off his head.

There were some protestations from the Hendon players after the goal was scored, but everything seemed fairly straight forward.

It would be generous to say Salisbury deserved the lead but equally unfair to say Hendon deserved to go behind.

The second half almost got off to the worst possible start for the visitors, with Oshodi centimetres away from putting the ball into his own net after five minutes.

Hendon were much the better side in a second half that also lacked quality, other than an audacious overhead kick from Brooks on the edge of the box – which was heading into the top corner if not for a good Beauchamp save to his left. A chance that came from Oseni's sloppiness, who did not have his best game.

After 75 minutes and totally against the run of play, Salisbury doubled their lead with a well-worked goal from Toby Holmes.

A Warren Bentley ball over the top to Shaquille Hippolyte-Patrick, who controlled it superbly into the path of Holmes, who finished clinically.

Hendon were unable to get themselves back into the game, and a clean sheet will please boss Steve Claridge.

Up next for the Whites is Gosport away on Tuesday night, before Harrow away next Saturday afternoon.
