SOLDIERS of the Journal adopted 4th Battalion of The Rifles are to parade through Salisbury when they return from Iraq, it was confirmed this week.
The regiment, whose home base is Bulford Camp, has accepted an invitation from the Mayor Kevin Cardy to march through the city on Tuesday December 11, in a parade that will start from the Cathedral Close at 11am.
Both Wiltshire's Lord Lieutenant and High Sheriff have been invited to attend the event as guests of the Mayor and after the parade a reception will be held in the Guildhall for all those taking part.
Troops from 4 Rifles have been serving in Basra since May this year.
The regiment is the successor to the former Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment, which was awarded the Freedom of the City of Salisbury and last paraded through the city in October last year.
