KICKBOXER Paige Adcock fought off the competition to take the Junior Ladies crown.

One of the key members of the Basingstoke Kickboxing Organisation Junior team, Paige competed in the GB Grand slam where she won the overall grand championship for the under-18s, despite some of her opponents being three years older than her.

The teenager then followed this up with Team GB Silver at the European Championships

She also got silver in Flanders Cup which is one of the toughest tournaments of the year and achieved bronze in the British Championships.

Shocked to have won the award, Adcock 16 from Kempshott said: “I was not expecting this at all.”

Paige who attends Brighton Hill Community School added: “The high spot last year was my silver for GB in the European Championships.

“This year I have my sights set on competing in the World Championships in August and to qualify I have a number of multi session for WAKO.”

Figure skater Ava Wilson finished in second spot.

Ava has qualified for the British Championships for the second year by securing titles at Coventry and Bradford and this year is hoping to take the title.

She has also gained entry to the Great Britain squad for the third year and represented Great Britain in international competitions.

Synchronised swimming’s Beatrice Crass completed the top three for this award.

She swam at every competition throughout 2019 with her club the Reading Royals, the top club in this sport in the country.

A particular 2019 highlight was following Great Britain trials, being selected for the Junior Squad this year.

After winning the Junior Ladies award kickboxer Paige returned to the stage to pick up the Junior Team award on behalf of the Basingstoke Kickboxing Organisation.

The club’s juniors competed in 30 tournaments gaining 298 top three placings.

They also competed in eight international tournaments gaining medals at every one.

A delighted Paige said: “It is just amazing that the team have won this.

One of the team’s coaches Liz Ferioli said: “They are a really hard working team often training from six o’clock in the morning. It is great to see them honoured and George Peploe is driving light behind the club.”
