TEENAGE Taekwondo star Hayden Corby won the Junior Men’s title.

The 17-year-old from Oakridge trains in Southampton with a club called BTS and was one of only two boys to be selected for the GB Development Squad for the third year running.

He was selected to represent Great Britain for the Junior European Championships and also got to Korea for a 10 day training map.

Corby, a former Vyne School student is now attends Queen Mary’s College said: “I was really chuffed to have won this award. The high spot for me last year was getting selected for GB and going to Korea. It was a great experience.”

His aim for this year is to get to the European Championships in May which are due to take place in Croatia.

He is also hoping to train with the senior Olympic squad with a view to becoming a fulltime athlete in Manchester

Felix Smith finished second in this category and is a member of the Aerobic Gymnastics squad at Basingstoke Gymnastic Club.

He joined them in June 2018 and since then he has progressed from regional level right through to the becoming a national team member.

Felix made his Great Britain debut at the Plovdiv Cup, Bulgaria where he achieved the bronze medal against some of the best gymnasts in the world.

Volleyball star Luke Honeybun completed the top three for this award.

He is a member of the England under-17 indoor and beach volleyball team and team captain for South East England.

In was part of teams who finished second in both inter regional beach volleyball championships and the under-18 nationals.

Travis Moore a member of Wessex Wyvern Modern Pentathlon Club won the evening’s Special Award to honour what he has achieved at only 10-years-old.

He holds two national titles being British Laser Run under-11 boys champion and British Modern Triathlon under-11 boys Champion.

Another Wessex Wyvern member Luke Onslow won the Junior Volunteer Award.

He has a great talent at coaching laser-run and is a very valuable member of the coaching team. Luke was amazing at his first competition as an assistant coach and the parents and children spoke very highly of him.
