AMESBURY Police officers have conducted night foot patrols after reports of nighthawking.
Nighthawking is the theft of archaeological artifacts from protected archaeological sites and areas under the cover of darkness, most commonly by members of the public with the use of a metal detector.
Officers from Team 5 Amesbury conducted night foot patrols of local Heritage sites, and sites of historical interest included areas in and around Old Sarum, Woodhenge and Ludgershall Castle.
If you witness suspicious activity please report it using 101 or 999 for emergencies.
