WILTSHIRE Creative has cancelled performances at Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury Arts Centre In a statement it said in response to the COVID-19 virus situation and following government guidelines and advice from industry bodies, it has made the decision to cancel performances and events with immediate effect until May 16.

Executive director Sebastian Warrack said: “We are very sorry to disappoint audiences but, at this difficult and unprecedented time for everyone, we believe this to be the right and proper action. The wellbeing of our audiences, staff, volunteers and artists is paramount.

“We hope that audiences will return in the future when, more than ever, we will need all the support we can receive to continue offering a full range of arts, entertainment and cultural activities.”

Anyone who has booked tickets for events between these dates will be contacted shortly. Customers are requested not to call or visit either venue.

A decision on events following this period will be taken at a later date.

For more information and updates go to wiltshirecreative.co.uk Salisbury Museum has decided to close its doors for now.  A statement issued on Tuesday said: "The health of our visitors, staff and volunteers is of the utmost importance so following the latest advice from government Salisbury Museum has decided to close for the immediate future. Please check our website and social media for updates on when we will re-open.

"This was a very difficult decision for the museum to make. As an independent museum and charity the museum depends on revenue from ticket sales and events in order to remain sustainable. Your support through this difficult time, and when we re-open, will be more important than ever."

And Arundells, which is also located in the Cathedral Close, has also made the decision to close.  The Arundells website said: "To help safeguard the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteer stewards, it has been decided to close Arundells until further notice. Our intention is to re-open as soon as it is considered appropriate to do so."

City Hall's website now  says: "Due to current circumstances a number of our upcoming shows have been cancelled or postponed pending reschedule. Our box office will be in contact with affected patrons."
