TWO more GP practices in Salisbury have temporarily closed amid the conoravirus outbreak.

In a statement posted on its website, Salisbury Medical Practice has said that "in order to maintain the delivery of essential services to our patients, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close Wilton Health Centre and Bishopdown Surgery".

The closures are effective from Monday, March 23.

Salisbury Journal:

The statement adds: "Our priority remains to provide the best quality of care we can, whilst ensuring the resilience of our workforce. Therefore to reduce the spread of infection, we are centralising all essential appointments to Fisherton House. We will continue to provide telephone appointments and home visits and we are looking at video consultations as well.

"Bemerton Heath Surgery will become our Respiratory Assessment Hub from Monday. Patients who have been screened by our clinicians will be booked an appointment here if they have respiratory symptoms such as sore throat, runny nose, cold etc. This surgery will be closed to all patients who do not have a pre booked appointment to prevent spread of infection.

"All patients visiting either site will be subject to further precautions. We encourage patients to minimise contact with the surgery as much as possible.

"Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding."
