Supermarkets, green areas and petrol parks across Salisbury are being patrolled to ensure members of the public comply with the 'stay at home' rule.

Salisbury Police said its officers are "out and about" today to patrol busier areas such as supermarkets to support essential workers delivering key services.

Parks are also being monitored in a bid to disperse gatherings.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said: "Salisbury Police are committed to keeping our community safe. We are out and about so that you don’t need to be.

"The more time we are responding to those who are not following the Government guidance the less time we will be spending on other ways that we can keep you safe. I will ensure that anyone who continues to ignore the new rules will be challenged proportionately but robustly. Please help us to keep you safe by staying home whenever possible."
