A DISPERSAL order was issued to street drinks in Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury this morning.

Police say the Section 35 order was given after a group of people were seen to be drinking and acting in an anti social manner in the park just before 10.30am.

In a post on Facebook, Salisbury Police said: "Those subject to the order have been ordered to leave the area and have been issued with maps detailing where they are not allowed to go.

"The dispersal order will remain in place for two days."

A man in his 40s has also been arrested on suspicion of public order offences and taken to custody in Melksham for further questioning.

Insp Pete Sparrow said: “This type of behaviour is not only contrary to the Public Space Protection Order, but it is also irresponsible in light of the recent government advice and will not be tolerated.”
