NIGEL Davis at the Riverside Kiosk in Fordingbridge has scooped a bronze award at this year’s Melton Mowbray British Pie Awards.

He won the award for his chicken, ham and leek pie, which he says is one of his best sellers.

Nigel said he was “very pleased” to have won the award, adding: “This is a nationwide competition so it’s particularly rewarding being up against the best in the country and getting recognised.

“My regular customers have been encouraging me with my pie making for some time. The more they like them, the more I make.

“Having been a chef for many years, feedback is a main motivator for me especially if it’s good feedback. As well as receiving a bronze award, I’ve also got the judges comments on my pies. This gives me the chance to improve them and hopefully get a silver or gold next year.”

The Riverside Kiosk is located in Fordingbridge Recreation Ground.
