THE mayor of Verwood has urged residents to follow government advice to protect themselves and others during the coronavirus pandemic.

In her message to residents, Councillor Pat Morrow said: “Following yesterday’s (March 23) announcement from the Prime Minister I would ask the support of all residents of Verwood and Three Legged Cross to protect our vulnerable residents by strictly adhering to the instructions and remain in your homes, unless you are required to attend work or unless you need essential supplies.

“Please be responsible and only go to the supermarket when absolutely necessary and shop online where possible, and please bear in mind that supermarkets are now required to restrict the flow of customers into the store to avoid crowding and allow distancing.

“All parks and play areas within the parish are closed until further notice and a reminder that children should not be allowed out of the house to meet up with friends.”

Verwood Town Council Offices are closed until further notice, but staff are available during the hours of 9am to 1pm Monday to Friday, email towncouncil@verwood.gov.uk or call 07935 994825 or 07897 220251.
