SALISBURY Pride will be going ahead later in the year, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event celebrating the LGBTQ+ community will now be taking place on September 26.

Pride-goers can meet in Guildhall Square from 12pm, and music, food and entertainment will be scheduled throughout the afternoon until 10pm.

Entering its fifth year, Salisbury Pride was originally pencilled in for June 13 but the festivities were postponed earlier this month, following the Government's health and safety guidance.

In a statement from the Salisbury Pride team it said: "We very much hope that the situation worldwide will have improved enormously later in the summer months, so that we can go ahead and celebrate.

"We urge you to continue following the Government’s and NHS advice and it the mean time stay home, save lives.

"Let’s all come together later in 2020, and in the meantime, stay safe and look out for each each. Remember to be 'Be Kind'.”
