EXTINCTION Rebellion (XR) Salisbury is not taking to the streets for its street swarm this weekend.
The swarms – involving both bicycles and walkers – have been taking place on the first Saturday of the month since the initiative was launched in February and are campaigning for the exclusion of private cars from Salisbury's city centre streets.
In a statement Extinction Rebellion Salisbury said: "Due to the need for us all to follow the science and government guidance on protecting ourselves and others during the COVID-19 crisis, Extinction Rebellion Salisbury will not be on the streets for its regular street swarm next Saturday (4 April).
"The swarms – involving both bicycles and walkers – have been campaigning for the exclusion of private cars from Salisbury's city centre streets This, we believe, will improve air quality and therefore people’s health and well as making the city centre a safer and more visitor-friendly area."
XR Salisbury is still hosting weekly meetings online. Email xrsalisburypublicity@gmail.com for more details.
