THIS year's Fordingbridge Festival has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis.

The event is organised by Fordingbridge Events Group.

Nicky Jenkins, the chair of Fordingbridge Events Group, said: “After much consideration, the committee has unanimously agreed to postpone this year’s festival. Although we are not sure what the state of play will be in July, the current restrictions are making it very difficult to proceed and we think it likely that even if restrictions are lifted by then, group gatherings will still not be encouraged.

“As a group, we have decided to postpone the festival until next year. We are hoping to arrange a free community event when the current situation changes instead.”

Fordingbridge Events Group is in talks with Fordingbridge Town Council about the 2021 festival, and the proposed date will be the 17th July 2021.

Nicky added: “Everyone who has reserved a stand for the 2020 festival has been notified and can either use the money to hold their place for 2021 or get a refund. If anyone has any questions, they can contact the group by emailing fordingbridgeevents@gmail.com”

The town's VE Day celebrations on May 8 have also been cancelled.
