Low fuel prices are the norm at petrol stations across Swindon.

The Asda petrol station in West Swindon was selling unleaded petrol at 102.7p per litre yesterday, while Tesco at Ocotal Way it was 103.9.

Prices have had their biggest weekly fall since June 2003.

The average price of a litre of petrol fell by 8p to £1.12 in the seven days to last Monday, while diesel prices dropped 4p to £1.19. Some are now pricing their petrol at less than £1 a litre.

The reduction has been driven by oil prices since Covid-19 took hold.

RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams said: “An already-oversupplied oil market was suddenly faced with an enormous shortage in demand as worldwide travel ground to a halt.”
