John Glen MP posted on Twitter: "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Prime Minister this morning whilst he is in hospital battling COVID-19.
"The government will continue to coordinate the national effort and we wish him a speedy recovery."
Jeremy Nettle, leader of Salisbury City Council, said: "It seems no time at all since Prime Minister Boris Johnson was here in Salisbury at our Christmas Fayre with his typical jovial personality and Christmas cheer.
His Government's support post Novichok was invaluable to our City and lessons learnt during that time have made our Community stronger than perhaps it might have been and more able for to support our local, Community, the NHS and front line staff.
"We wish the Prime Minister a speedy recovery to good health and able to continue to lead us through this global pandemic!"
Councillor Philip Whitehead, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “My thoughts are with the Prime Minister and his family at this difficult time. I wish him a speedy recovery, as I do all those affected by coronavirus.”
