A NUMBER of post offices in the Salisbury area remain open but the city centre branch in High Street has been temporarily closed.

High Street Salisbury Post Office, which is located inside a tourist and gift shop, was temporarily closed after footfall was seriously affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The owner, Nicola Saddler, who is the third generation of postmasters, made the difficult decision to close.

Branches that remain open include:

  • West End Post Office, Westacre Services, Wilton Road. Revised hours: Monday to Sunday, 7am-3pm
  • Netherhampton Road Post Office, One Stop Store. Revised opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 8.30–5.30pm.
  • Bishopdown Post Office, One Stop Store, Barrington Road. Revised opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 8.30–5.30pm.
  • Bemerton Heath Post Office, Pembroke Road, Salisbury, SP2 9DJ. Revised hours: Monday to Friday: 7am – 9pm; Saturday and Sunday: 8am – 9pm.
  • Wilton Post Office, Co-op, North Street. Open as normal Monday to Friday, 9am–5.30pm, Saturday 9am -12.30pm.
  • Churchill Way West Post Office inside Waitrose. The branch is operating revised hours. It is closing an hour earlier from Monday to Saturday. The current hours are Monday to Saturday: 7.30am – 7pm; Sunday: 10am – 4pm.

Post Office Ltd says the branch in Waitrose is working hard to provide vital services but it is asking customers to consider using other post offices in the area that are still operational.

It also says that it is "still committed" to reopening a branch in the city centre of Salisbury after the Winchester Street branch ceased trading.

Matt Walls, Post Office change manager, said: “We are still committed to re-opening a branch in the centre of Salisbury as we know how important Post Offices are to communities. During the Coronavirus pandemic, our Postmasters and Post Office partners are working incredibly hard to keep as many branches open as possible. We have a number of branches open across the area offering a wide range of vital services including mail, bill payments, pensions and benefits and banking on behalf of the all major banks.”
