YOUNG performers from across Salisbury have thanked NHS workers through song.

Around 25 members of Starcast Performing Arts Schools put together their own cover of The Beatles classic, With a Little Help from My Friends, to send a message of gratitude and support to staff at Salisbury District Hospital and Salisbury Hospice working through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Watch the video below:

“We do a lot of charity work for Salisbury Hospice and Stars Appeal and a lot of our members’ parents are charity or NHS workers, so those two things made us want to really want to do something and show our appreciation,” explained Samantha Holloway, the founder of Starcast.

Following the release of the video Samantha said: “The [NHS] staff absolutely loved it, it went round the hospice and it is slowly getting out to the hospital.

"This video sends a message that [the staff] are appreciated and even the younger generation is thinking about them.

“We are so grateful to everyone working at the hospital - everyone has a connection to them and recognises their work.”

In response to the Covid-19 crisis Starcast has been running virtual quizzes and competitions, and principles Kiri Golding and Amymarie Roberts have been running online classes to keep members busy and creative.

Samantha added: “We’re trying to support our Starcast family and the community, it is so important to keep an active mind while having fun.

“Singing, dancing, drama, art - these are the things that keep us going because of their mindfulness and creativity, and I hope the focus on doing these things at home is shedding light on how important they are.

"It’s these subjects that have always got the chop in schools so hopefully this is enlightening people.”
