A STRANGER Things star has donated £5,000 to Salisbury Hospital Charity to help support frontline NHS staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

British actress Millie Bobby Brown, 16, and her father Bobby Brown have also donated £5,000 each to Bournemouth Hospital Charity and Southampton Hospitals Charity.

Salisbury Journal:

Millie Bobby Brown said: "Britain's NHS workers - and all carers - are an inspiration to us all and are the nation's heroes. I am in awe of every one of them and just wanted to thank those risking their lives - particularly in hospitals on the south coast.

"The area is very dear to me and my family and I cannot wait to visit again soon. Keep up the brilliant work and stay safe. Thank you. You are all amazing."

Donations like Millie’s are helping Salisbury Hospital’s staff and patients in a number of ways.

The Stars Appeal staff counsellor and mental health nurse are helping staff cope with what they are going through.

Stars Appeal Wi-Fi is keeping staff and patients connected with loved ones. Specialist simulation training is ensuring staff are well prepared for whatever they may face and Hospital chaplains are offering comfort and reassurance.

The Stars Appeal is also working to provide staff with morale boosting care packages, free meals, and their garden spaces offer peace and tranquillity away from the busy wards.

Dr Duncan Murray, Intensive Care Consultant and Stars Appeal Ambassador said: The support offered by the Stars Appeal at this incredibly challenging time is more valuable than ever, but the lockdown restrictions have meant much of the charity’s normal fundraising has had to stop.

"We are incredibly grateful to Millie Bobby Brown and her family for remembering their Salisbury roots and to everyone that is supporting the Stars Appeal, the hospital and my colleagues and I.”
