INSPIRED by Captain Tom Moore's fundraiser, an eight-year-old has completed a 10km walk through and around her village - raising £700 for the NHS.

Izzie Langford and her mother Leah completed the challenge on Saturday, walking along footpaths, bridleways and roads near their home in Fordingbridge, in a bid to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

Together the pair covered areas in Fordingbridge and Sandleheath, in addition to Marl Lane, Whitsbury Road and the A338 Salisbury Road, to reach their 10km goal.

Mobile hairdresser Leah said: "Izzie donated ten pounds of her own birthday money to [Captain Tom's] cause but kept asking 'What can I do to give money?'.

"She was really up for doing the 10km when I suggested it as she has really enjoyed our dog walks through the area.

"Izzie was a little tired by the end but she did so well. My friend and her daughter had banners ready for when we walked past which was lovely, although it was sad because Izzie said 'I just want to go over and give them a big hug!'"

With connections to Salisbury District Hospital through relatives and her friends' parents being key workers, Izzie chose NHS Charities Together because she wanted to "help staff keep safe and help them get the right PPE [personal protective equipment]," Leah added.

"The response has been ridiculous and we are so overwhelmed. I set £80 as our target because with family, friends and my clients I knew we could hit that, but we just cannot believe it has reached £700.

"Izzie just can't believe the kindness of people."
