POLICE in Ringwood are warning residents to be "extra vigilant" when locking up and storing their bicycles after a rise in thefts.

Two bicycles were stolen from inside a garage on Southampton Road between the hours of 7pm and 11pm on Sunday, May 17.

A Post on the Ringwood Police Facebook page said the bikes have "distinctive frames and colours", adding: "If you have any information around this incident please call 101 and quote 44200175244."

The post also said: "So you are all aware the theft of bicycles is slightly on the rise in the area. Please be extra vigilant when locking/storing your bikes and note any serial numbers that you have for identification purpose."
