IF YOU have been looking at the sky as of late, you might have noticed an unusual ring around the sun.
This weather phenomenon is called halo and was captured by Salisbury resident Sarah Nettle earlier this week.
The 36-year-old, owner of Jacqui's Sunbed Studio, was walking her dog in Little Durnford on Monday when she spotted a spectacular rainbow surrounding the sun around 12.30pm.
"I'd never seen it before that's why I was so interested and took a picture," she said.
"I don't really do photography anymore but I like to take a nice picture every now and then."
Halos appear when high-level clouds made up of tiny ice crystals pass in front of the sun.
The crystals reflect and refract the sunlight producing the unusual rings.
