BOURNEMOUTH Parks Foundation is calling on local residents to film themselves explaining what their local park means to them during lockdown. and why the existence of green space available on their doorstep is so important at this time.

The videos will them be compiled together to make a celebratory video on why the existence of green space available on their doorstep is so important for people during the coronavirus pandemic.

Cathi Farrer, Foundation Manager at Bournemouth Parks Foundation, said: “Parks have never been so important to our communities and appreciation for natural, green spaces has dramatically increased in the past few weeks.

“In Bournemouth, we are incredibly lucky with the access we have to so many beautiful open spaces and we want everyone to be able to enjoy them during these difficult and challenging times.

“Our belief is that parks help you live happier and healthier lives and we’re hoping that Bournemouth residents will get behind us to help create this homage to the abundance of natural surroundings Bournemouth is blessed to have.”

Working alongside the BCP Council, the Foundation exists to raise funds and awareness to support Bournemouth's open spaces for now and future generations to improve people's health and wellbeing, reconnect people with nature and bring diverse communities together.

Anyone who wants to contribute to the crowdsourced video simply needs to send in a short video of themselves in one of our great open spaces telling us, in a concise sentence, why they love their local park and why it’s so important to them at this time.

Footage must show parks being enjoyed safely and responsibly.

Videos can be emailed to info@bournemouthparksfoundation.org.uk or sent via WhatsApp to 07884731525 up until Sunday May 31 .
