THE community are invited to tune in and listen to a virtual premiere to mark the 800th anniversary of the founding of Salisbury Cathedral.

The Salisbury Anthem will be released online today (Sunday, May 31), 6pm, as part of the Salisbury 2020 Big Weekend, a special programme of online activities created by the Salisbury 2020 partners.

It will be led by the Cathedral Choir with Salisbury Cathedral director of music, David Halls.

The performance will be done remotely and will feature contributions from the local community.

The Salisbury Anthem was composed by James Morgan and Juliette Pochin, using extracts from a poem by Henry D’Avranches that was written at the time the cathedral was being built.

  • Befriending death? Reflecting on vulnerability. Live session of reflection with The Revd Canon James Woodward, Principal of Sarum College (1pm, pre-booking required)
  • Family games and activities (2pm)
  • Literary Walk Live (2pm, pre-booking required)
  • High intensity interval training (HIIT) with Alex Taylor (2.30pm)
  • Sue Allenby – Elias: A Story of the Founding of Salisbury (3pm)
  • Yoga relaxation and meditation with Sarah Naylor (5pm)
