SALISBURY District Hospital has paid tribute to a "wonderful colleague" who passed away at the end of last week.

Midwife Jacqui Manners died after a long illness on Friday May 29.

Her colleagues from the hospital's maternity unit remember her as a "wonderful colleague and midwife-to-many" who "bravely" fought against the illness.

The team announced the news through a Facebook post in which they appealed for the public to share their memories of Jacqui with them.

A Facebook user said: "She was my midwife with my 1st child and was brilliant! She gave me great advice when I needed it and was so happy to see me every time I came in the room. You will be dearly missed."

Another one added: "Can't thank this lady enough for the outstanding care she gave me during the labour of my daughter. Amazing beautiful character that I'm sure will be so missed at the maternity department in Salisbury."
