A MAN verbally abused and threatened to stab a member of staff with a needle after being seen trying to put a number of household items from Poundland in a rucksack.

At around 4.10pm on Wednesday, May 20 a man entered Poundland at the Mallard Road retail park and was seen selecting the household items and putting them in his bag.

The man was then challenged by a member of staff who asked him to put the items back.

The offender then became verbally abusive and threatened to stab the victim with a needle, which he said was in his bag. He then left the store without paying for the items.

Dorset Police have now issued CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to regarding the incident.

Police sergeant Steve Boston, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident and I am now in a position to release CCTV images of a man I would like to speak to.

“I appreciate the images are not of the best quality but I am hoping that someone may recognise the man pictured.
